"La vita nuova" is a project with all the pop and bounce that Christine and the Queens exudes. This 2020 project is the second EP from this French singer and dancer, following the 2018 release of her sophomore studio album "Chris." Blending English, French, Spanish, and Italian, she accomplishes an art of songwriting in all areas, weaving poetry across the language divide. I understand a little French and Spanish, and I found the lyrics very creative, but I think Christine really excels in her instrumentals. Full of flavor and quality, they stand out in French pop and pop as a whole. The EP is only six songs, including a bonus English version of the second song. In those tracks Christine displays not only her aforementioned songwriting but also her vocal talent. She's clearly capable of singing alongside the paramours of pop. It's clearly 80's inspired, especially in the title track, where Christine sounds as if T'Pau was fluent in Italian. The only song that didn't wow me was "Mountains (we met)" just because it's very repetitive, but the rest of the EP is all fantastic.

Christine and the Queens is well into creating a well-rounded and exceptional discography, and this 2020 addition is another step on the way.
